My brother recently had a baby boy. They had him circumcised and were instructed to apply vaseline and not touch/disturb the penis while it is healing. Because of this they don't feel comfortable pointing his penis down in the diaper and the baby is peeing out of the diaper/soaking himself frequently. Any advice?
My son is about 22 months old, so my memory isn't super clear. However, my recollection of instructions was to put vaseline on a square piece of guaze, fold that loosely over the penis, and then put the diaper on. I'm pretty sure we still pointed his penis down in the diaper, and we definitely didn't have frequent leaking issues. Hope that helps!
Wrap it in gauze with the vaseline and point it down. Ah, first time parents.
Newborn care specialist here. Put the vaseline on and point it down without touching the very tip. The shaft should be fine. They may also need a different brand or size of diaper because newborns don't pee vast quantities so leakage is usually about fit vs volume.
Get different diapers with elastic on the legs and top all the way around.
"My brother." Sure, OP.... hahaha
We experienced this-- it just lasted a few days of leakages until we could ease up on the Vaseline. Just wait it out
Ok, to point it down.
I second the gauze. We are in the throws of this right now and the gauze seems to help asorb some pee and allows us to feel comfortable touching it to help get it down. I recall this with our first two and it only lasting a short period of time.
