The sad state of interviewing

Anonymous
I was actively pursued for a job by a senior-level person recently, who helped get a phone interview set up. It's been over three weeks and the recruiter I spoke with hasn't even sent a brief email to let me know that they've decided to keep looking (I sent a follow up email the day after the interview and then again at the end of last week). While this wouldn't surprise me with a lead from applying online, it's appalling that a place that actively approached me wouldn't even bother to let me know I'm not in the running. Are recruiters specifically instructed to essentially ghost everyone that they don't want to extend an offer to?

I had this experience with a recruiter. The time the company wanted to extend an offer, she would not leave me alone...for months.

The time she called me for a company who didn't want to extend an offer, she completely disappeared on me.

It's a sign of a lazy and incompetent recruiter to me.

I've had this happen and agree it's sketchy

The bigger the company the more alienated you feel you are from the process unless you're picked. The key is really to have a contact truly in the know of the hiring process. Was your "senior-level person" contact involved at all? Or was the person just sending over a resume to HR?
