Hi everyone,
DH and I are thinking of moving in the Woodlin school zone. We love the neighborhood and accessibility to downstown Silver Spring but aren't thrilled over the old school building and portable classes being held outside the school building not to mention a lack of a real playground. Does anyone have insight on if the building will be renovated or new soon? Thanks! |
| According to the MCPS Capital Improvement Plan (available here, see the Downcounty Consortium section: http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/planning/cipmaster.aspx), an addition project has been approved at Woodlin to relieve overcrowding. It's currently scheduled for completion in September of 2022, but that's always subject to change. |
Your kid might be out by then

Ha, to the above poster, you're totally right! Thank you very much to the previous poster. I looked at the report, apparently the school board requested that they complete it by 2020 but the project is being delayed until 2022. Also according to the report Woodlin is over capacity but more than 150+ children. The numbers are expected and predicted to grow even more each year until the major renovations. I'm disappointed, I do wish the renovations could happen sooner.
DH and I visited the school two weeks ago and the administration team is using the portables until the MCPS workers clean the school of abestos. |
| I wish! It's a dump. |
