Costco Auto

Has anyone used Costco auto to buy a new car? Can you tell me the steps involved, time it took, and if you had a good experience? Would you recommend it? Thanks!

I used it four years ago. The process was very easy. I filled out the form online and walked out of the dealership with the car a few days later. It would have happened even quicker but I couldn't get to the dealer until the weekend.

Whatever you do, be sure you're ready to purchase before you make contact with them. They will harass you to no end.

Yes, we used it and had a good experience. We got a better price than any other dealership could offer us by using the Costco dealer and price. It did take some time because we sent a lot of emails to other dealerships seeing if anyone could beat the price. And then once we had reached an agreement and were doing the financing, our Costco discounts "mysteriously" didn't show up in the final paperwork we were signing. Thankfully we noticed it and the guy had to run out and re-do it. So make sure you check all the numbers.

Yes, and I highly recommend it! My family has done it three times (in three states), and all experiences have been very positive. The prices cannot be beat. The only downside is that sometimes the closest participating dealer is a few hours away. I didn't experience any harassment at all -- if anything, I had to bug the dealer to follow up.

Another great experience here with Costco. The price has been great on two different occasions, most recently last fall. I don't like buying cars any other way. I had to buy a Honda through the dealer (no participating Costco dealer anywhere nearby) and it was a nightmare.

Same experience here! I used it about four years ago. I tried, via email, to get other dealers in the area to meet or match the Costco price and they couldn't. I was still able to get a few things added into the final Costco price of the car (window tinting, stripe on the side, etc.). And the dealer still tried to sell me on every single possible add-on, which we denied. All in all though, a good experience. I'll definitely go this route when I'm ready for the next car.

We've done it twice and most recently this past spring. Both times were great experiences.
