My in laws will be in town next month for my child's first birthday, so I thought about having a small party. It would be DH's family and my parents so total it would be 14 of us including DH and I plus two kids. I was thinking maybe having brunch since it would mainly be adults and end with cake as it wouldn't interfere with nap time. DH thinks that brunch isn't appropriate for a child's party. I think it should be fine since with more so a small family get together instead of a typical birthday party. What do you guys think? |
A first birthday is for the adults anyway. Brunch sounds great. |
It's fine. First birthday parties are really more about the adults than the kids. |
Today we had my son's 1st bday party and I had a brunch style set up! Everyone loved it. Happy birthday to your baby! |
I went to a first birthday brunch this morning and it was fun. Enjoy! |
It's fine! |
Yes, fine! |
We've a brunch bday party for my son 3 years in a row so far. 10/10:30am and people are out of your house by noon-ish so kid takes an awesome nap in the afternoon. House is clean by dinner! |
Completely fine |
Only if there are mimosas... |
We're doing he same thing, complete with champagne! ![]() |
I don't think I've ever been to a 1st birthday that WASN'T some kind of brunch. At that age, late morning is really the only time that's relatively safe from nap conflicts. |
WTF. This is just bizarre. Of course brunch is fine. The kid is one. No one cares. |
