Dr. Jim MacDonald, who I think is retired now, has a website and youtube videos on working with your child at home on language. There's so much parents can do in this regard! You can be your child's best teacher. http://jamesdmacdonald.org/Articles/MacDonaldStart.html = website this one talks about imitating sounds your child is making, instead of forcing words: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etNmXPn6Psw&feature=youtu.be&app=desktop This one talks about balanced interaction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zy1J7V_naZ4 |
| Thanks for the link! My 22 month old twins are speech delayed and I decided to watch the video regarding making sounds- I'm gonna make this my practice and see how it goes. |
OP -- I thought of this reading the other thread because I have friends who went in person to see him about 14 years ago and their child is all caught up with his language. They said his methods really worked. |
| Thanks for this! I want to work more with my twins at home and am kind of overwhelmed by the options of where to start. |
Kid probably would have caught up anyway. Most kids with a language disorder struggle in some areas but learn to compensate. |
