Can't stand to even look at SIL and her husband

Anonymous
DH says it's not my business and that they're family but I'm fed up with them. They've been trying to teach their 3 year old son to swim. They've been taking him to swimming lessons. He's terrified of going under but they push and push. Well apparently when they went on vacation they decided it was time for him to face his fears. So while they were on the boat one of them got off the boat and the other one threw him overboard while he was crying and screaming. Am I think only one pissed off?

Horrible. I agree with you.

This is not a first offense for them either. When my nephew had just turned 2 my baby was 3 months old so we decided to just take her to watch her cousin carve his first pumpkin. Their friend and her son who was also 2 was there. He didn't like the feel of the inside of the pumpkin(like so many others) but they forced him to put his feet in. I asked why they were being so tough on a little bitty kid and they said because if he keeps it up he's going to be gay. I was PISSED.

The swimming thing isn't that bad. One parent was in the water so the kid wouldn't drown, and sometimes kids just need a little push.

Using gay as a pejorative (and the associated ignorance) is extremely low class, and not something I want to expose my children to.

I honestly wouldn't let my children be around these people. They abuse their child and are homophobic. Deal breakers.

He's 3. Have you ever heard of dry drowning? Throwing him overboard so that he was forced to go under water while he was clearly panicking...if sil had caught him that would be one thing.

I tried to record the things they were saying but they caught me.

Yeah. You're a troll and a low rate one at that. Try better next time.

I don't think op is a troll. My ex - bil took the exact same approach with my niece when she was 2-3. Dragged her screaming into the pool time and time again to get her over her fear of water. And I saw a couple do the exact same thing to their toddler last weekend at an otherwise quiet and peaceful pond.

It's not the one instance it's everything OP put together. Including the details of her being a ftm, in=laws hating gays, DH just wanting to let it go.
She's looking for a controversial 20 age post.

+1

You think CPS is going to take away their kid because they put his feet in a pumpkin? You had me until this detail.

I don't think OP is a troll. I have a relative just like this. If the son does anything girly like play with a pink toy the father goes nuts. It's insane. He is scared to death of the kid being a wimp.
