Expectant and Postpartum Moms
| So I noticed a tiny bit of spotting today--not bright red, a tiny amount, and it seems to have stopped--but wondering if this is common. I had a similar thing happen at 15 weeks, they did an u/s, nothing was wrong. I had a 20 wk ultrasound and it was fine, too. The only thing i can think of is that I had a fairly bouncy/jumpy session this morning at my physical therapy appt, and for the first time the jumping didn't feel good (pressure/etc). It's past office hours and I'm supposed to get on a plane tomorrow to fly to Europe, so I figure I'll go and not worry.... |

If you soak a pad or have more than 4 contractions in an hour, contact your care provider.
For a few days, I would be cautious of heavy lifting and strenuous walking/climbing stairs as well as sex. But that's just my opinion. |

I would call my OB's after hours line and see what they say, especially if you are planning to get on a plane tomorrow. The worst thing that happens is that you spend a few hours in the ER tonight with nothing wrong and spend tomorrow's flight catching up on sleep. Just speaking from my own experience, I started spotting (bright red, but not heavy at all) at about 30 weeks, ended up on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby at 38 weeks, but was in the hospital with spotting three more times in between. I'm not sure what the cause for your trip is, but better to be safe, IMHO -- and an anonymous message boad is not going to provide you the same level of care as your OB.
Good luck. |
| Absolutely call the OB - this is an emergency. Even though it happened before and was resolved, and will perhaps prove to be have bothered your schedule for nothing, it is better to have the sonogram and risk catching the next plane. |
