Kindergarten Questions!

My daughter is starting kindergarten at Oyster next week. I haven't received any info like who her teacher is and what she should bring the first day, etc. I'm going to call the school but was wondering if others have received anything. Do DCPS schools send an info packet to parents of kindergarteners?

Call Oyster. You should have received a packet about two weeks ago.

On Wednesday, August 19 at 4pm, Oyster will have an ice cream social and information session for incoming kindergarten families. You will get your daughter's classroom assignment/teacher name at the ice cream social.

There is also a "play date" on Friday, August 21 at Kalorama Park from 10-noon.

See you at the ice cream social. Maybe our daughters will be in the same class.

Is the 8/21 "play date" for kindergarten families or for all Oyster Families? We're new to the area and have a son starting 2nd grade at Oyster and would love to meet other families before schools starts.

The pk-3 ice cream social is at 6-8, and the 4-8th grade one is 4-6 on Wednesday.

I received an automated call from Oyster yesterday that said the teacher/ classroom lists would be posted at the school today and tomorrow.
