Ad engines hanging

Anonymous
Jeff,

For the last 8-10 hours, I've had some issues with the ads hanging. I'm running Chrome on Windows 10. I can load "Recent Topics" without an issue, but frequently (not every click, but probably about 75%) when I click on a thread, it can take up to 20-25 seconds to load. The message in the lower left corner will have some sort of "waiting for ..." (some address) or "loading" type messages. I can hit reload and sometimes it will hang and sometimes it will reload the page. I finally turned off Javascript and have no issues whatsoever. I hate to do that since I know that it impacts your ad revenue. I don't mind the ads, but I do mind the fact that it takes several minutes to read one thread.

Note that none of this happens when I read DCUM on my Android phone, even using Chrome.

I haven't heard other reports of this problem, but I will try to replicate it tomorrow. You might try clearing your browsers cache and removing cookies to see if that helps at all.

Turned Javascript back on. Here are the messages from the last set of hanging screens:

"Processing request..."
"Waiting for sync.1rx.io..."
"Waiting for cache..."
"Connecting..."

Also had one page waiting for an ad from an engine including "quant" in the name, but I looked away and came back and only saw it briefly before it went away. Not sure that it was up that long.

I keep getting hit by an ad bot. Guess that means it's time for bed.

Try clearing your website data. This seems to be hitting AT&T users mostly. If you can use wifi, that might be better. I'm still trying to track this down.
