| Where should we go? She has two younger siblings and I would like to treat her to something a little more grown-up and surprise her. I'm thinking a weekend away, but not super far afield. |
| A spa resort like Nemacolin or a nice hotel with a spa in Annapolis or Philli or Baltimore or someplace! |
| Lansdowne and hit the Leesburg outlets for some shopping. |
| What about NYC? |
|
15 yo's are usually too young for spas.
The beach? |
|
The beach , or check Travelzoo for a last minute getaway to the caribbean?
BTW that sounds awesome and I would have LOVED it if my mom took me on a trip at 15! |
| OP here. Thanks for all the suggestions! We have done the OBX in the past and Ocean City in the past few years, is there something better/different and perhaps with a recommended hotel instead of a condo? |
| NYC would be awesome. Train and a show. Could do a fun weekend |
|
15 is too young for a spa trip. I agree with planning something fun like NYC! A show and something else would be perfect.
Or is she into hiking? Maybe a getaway to someplace like that? Or skiiing, etc. |
| If you don't want to go all the way to NYC, what about someplace like Philadelphia? Take in one of the touring shows, a museum, lunch in a nice restaurant. |
| When my best friend turned 15, her parents took 5 of us to NYC for the weekend. We are still best friends and we still talk about that weekend! We had a blast. Ate a "fancy" dinner out somewhere with a tablecloth and did some sight seeing. Went to Ellis Island, to the top of the World Trade Center (this was in 1995) and just walked around a lot. Didn't see a show, though that would have been fun too. |

Hiking if she (and her friends) like that, cultural (museums, plays) city getaway if not. Either New York or Philly would work for the latter if you want to take the train; if you want to spring for a plane, Boston or Chicago.
One risk of the outdoorsy trip is that if the weather is terrible, you're stuck. How fancy a hotel do you want? In New York, I like the Blakely when I'm feeling spendy. If I'm spend a lot on theater tickets and want to save elsewhere, I'll look for a hotel near the theater. |

Yup, this! When I turned 15 my mom took my best friend and I. We saw a show, ate at a fancy restaurant, went shopping (lots of shopping), and took a carriage ride. If NYC is too far or too expensive, I'd suggest philly as an alternative - the restaurants are fabulous, and there is actually lots to do! |

Philly is horrible. What about Charlottesville? Hiking, cute shops, horseback riding, Monticello? OR Asheville, NC - a little further but mountains, Biltmore lodge and of course the Biltmore. Depends on what the girls are into.
