Beach with toddler and under 1

Pregnant with #2 and would like to do a relaxing beach trip this coming year. Thinking baby will be like 6 months. Ideally a situation where someone will bring me pina coladas while I lounge and play with my daughter in the pool. Excursion-y stuff isn't too appealing since that will be tough but maybe nearby short wildlife hikes? Baby could be strapped on and my dd likes to explore (she'll be 2-2.5).

We want to set ourselves up for success by not biting off more than we can chew. Family friendly but if possible not like Sandals with 10000000 kids running around. Something a step up from that? Fine leaving the US...mexico, carribbean, all options. Thinking Hawaii is too far though.

Any specific hotel property recommendations? I don't want to spend a boatload on something super fancy and not be able to enjoy it, I also am past the point where I would want to experience something rustic and adventurous (things I do/did love but kids make it harder)

With two kids those ages, I honestly would do a house rental somewhere low-key. Florida? SC or GA island? It's just such a pain to go out to a restaurant for every meal with two kids those ages.

We do a house rental on the Cape each summer. With two kids (6 mo and 3 yo) it is NOT relaxing. I don't mind the house stuff (we mostly do simple breakfasts at home and go out/do take out every night), it's more watching two kids around the water. Even with two adults - it's a LOT. My recommendation would be to (1) go in with really low expectations, (2) get a baby wrap/sling that you can wear in the water, and (3) take your parents with you!!!

I understand the PP's points but I would go in the opposite direction with a resort-type hotel. If you want something small then a place like the Sanderling Inn in Duck. Right on the beach, with a pool, with golf and lots of other activities. And there is a restaurant for 3 meals a day!

Fairmont Myakoba --- nice with 3yo and 1yo. Also love Rosewood Myakoba but def more $$$--- nice for baby phase with private plunge pool during naps.

Are you worried about Zika risk for the new baby? There was some recent article about scientists not being sure how long after birth newborns are still vulnerable. That has limited my travel choices for the first year.

No not particularly. In fact I am excited to suddenly not have to write off all the good beaches. I haven't seen anything saying you need to be concerned if you're not pregnant or ttc

Bring your parents/in-laws along. Why? My cousin does it all the time. They are great at baby sitting and watching the kids. Most do not mind at all. You just have to make sure the house is big enough for some privacy. They get to do the adult stuff and do excursions while the elderly watch the kids in the house or at the beach. It's doable.
