Of course you do. TLC does a good job of packaging them so you get the wholesome and likeable pieces, while hiding the more fringe wackadoo parts. And they do seem to be genuinely nice people (the non-molesting ones). But there is a lot of wackado fringe there.

The parents and oldest son are criminals.

One son in law tortures animals. The other has said some very bigoted things.

The daughters seem very sweet and I'm sad their options are so limited. Chastity should be a personal choice and not require a chaperone to enforce it.

You can be very devout and family oriented and still get an education and be free to learn about the world before marrying.

What about their lack of education, especially the daughters? They aren't equipped to support themselves if they have to. That one woman was stuck married to the oldest perverted son because she has no life skills and has been brainwashed.

19 Kids and Counting (which featured the whole family) was cancelled after the molestation, but Counting on (Which is what I assume OP was watching) was created as a spin-off due to the cancellation. It only features the older girls as they get married, move out, etc.

I agree that the Duggars are wackadoodles, although I'd rather watch them than the Gosselins...

I have a hard time with the sexism of the show. I remember when they built that huge house. The girls room was just a standard room with beds. The boys room included slides and all sorts of fun stuff Yuck I come from a family of 13 kids, we we're not expected to raise each other as miss Duggar makes for a girls do for their younger siblings. And it is the girls who do the raising, not the boys. In addition, another thing that bothered me was they showed them always using paper plates and plastic utensils for each meal. How wasteful for the environment.
