I'm applying for a federal job at an administrative agency using the USAJOBS site. Not the most user-friendly process but oh well.
I uploaded transcripts where it asked me to. There's also an option for a cover letter. Should I upload a cover letter there? If so to whom do I address it? The contact for more information? Search up the head of HR? I'd normally include a cover letter in the private sector but this is kind of a sterile process. It says at some point I get switched over to the agency's site to finalize my application if that matters here. Thank you for your advice. |
| Yes. It's a chance for the hiring officials to see your writing, and for you to highlight skills and qualifications. Proofread it to within an inch of your life. |
| You sound new to the process. Your letter won't even get read unless you are found eligible and even if you are eligible they'll be so many veterans you're not referred (story of my life). Tailor it to the qualifications. |

Yes, I am new to the process. Thanks for the advice!

The items required will often let you know if you need a cover letter, transcripts, SF50 etc or not.
