direct flight to warm water location?

| We just got back from a wonderful summer vacation but the ocean was COLD. I think my preschool aged kids would have a blast at a warm watered Caribbean beach but we don't have much vacation time left and don't want to spend hours flying and then more hours driving somewhere. Other than Florida (where we'll probably go for a spring long weekend to visit grandparents), any recommendations? Ideally, a place where we can get a direct flight from BWI or DCA to a place where only a cab ride from the airport to a hotel or resort would be required. |

| I was hesitant about it, but we had a great vacation with the kids in Cancun in October. Direct flight and the JW Marriott is wonderful (definitely upgrade to club 91 if you stay there with children!) |

| Besides Punta Cana and Cancun another good option is San Juan Puerto Rico. You won't even need passports. |

This. We have done a 4 day weekend in Puerto Rico. Stay at a place close to airport. Take the early flight there and you're in the water by 1 pm. Take the 4 on flight home and you can get a dip in the ocean and lunch in the am. |

We are loyal Southwest customers and have found good prices on non-stop flights from BWI to warm weather locations abroad. I believe that this is the most current list of non-stop options from BWI to nice warm places, which I keep handy because I like to check prices- Aruba Cancun – pretty cheap Montego Bay Nassau – pretty cheap Punta Cana (They also have Saturday-only non-stop service to Costa Rica, which I've heard from friends is a great place to visit.) |

In the summer, there's a nonstop from DCA to Bermuda which is a 2 hour flight. So easy! And beautiful beaches.
We just got back from Costa Rica and did the Southwest nonstop from BWI to Liberia on the way there and from San Jose on the way back. It was an awesome trip! Unfortunately it's a bit of a drive from the airports to the beach once you're there. We've also done the Southwest nonstop from BWI to Punta Cana which is easy. Jetblue has a daily nonstop from DCA to San Juan which is affordable and easy. Have fun! |
