Great, I just saw this is a new forum! We are TTC, have been for the past year, had one miscarriage and I am now trying acupuncture. Anyone else trying it out right now? Curious to hear what the diagnosis was... I'm too cool, deficient Kidney Yang

i did acupuncture with my 2nd IVF cycle. i am now 28 weeks pregnant and attribute our success (in some part) to the acupuncture. |
I am a nanny and the family that I work for is undergoing fertility treatments and is incorporating acupuncture. We will see how it goes. |
I've never tried it for fertility, but it fixed my mom's lazy eye after 2 years at the eye doctor not fixing anything. |
I had a very difficult time getting pregnant. We had several unsuccessful IUIs and lots of other "stuff". Before my first IVF, my fertility specialist recommended acupuncture and gave info on very credible research. She probably pushed the research because she could tell I totally didn't buy into it. However, I was so desperate and wanted to be able to say I tried everything that I gave it a shot. IVF worked on the the first try with the acupuncture and I'm currently over 5 months pregnant. Who knows if the acupuncture had any impact but I will certainly do it again when we try for baby #2! : ) Several friends also swear buy it when trying to conceive. |
there was a small article in yesterday's Post's Health section about a recent study that showed it did improved odds for conception with IVF.... |
Tried accupuncture after several failed attempts at IUI and one failed IVF. It made a huge difference for me - I felt far more relaxed and I ultimately think that helped me get pregnant with our second IVF attempt. Turns out my accupuncturist also helped out a work colleague and his wife (who went on to have twins). |
Who was the acupuncturist? |
Several people on this board recommended Lisa Eaves from "Heal from Within" in DC. |
I'm tryng acupuncture -- have my fourth appt. this week -- because we're doing our first IVF cycle next month for (hopefully) a 2nd child. I have had a boatload of miscarriages (after my first child) and figure acupuncture can't hurt. I'm such a skeptic and have expected nothing out of each appt., but each time I'm pleasantly surprised. Two weeks ago, I went in to see her, so sick, drippy nose, no energy, and by that night, I had more energy than I had all week, and I didn't use a tissue at all after my treatment. Last week I went, and she cured this mild vertigo I was experiencing -- amazing. I'm cautiously optimistic about my IVF cycle. Also data published earlier this month (Feb. 7 or 8?) out of the UK indicates a boost in success rates when IVF is coupled with acupuncture.
And the needles don't hurt at all! My acupuncturist is Nancy Ann Miller, she's in Arlington. www.milleracupuncture.com. |
I have suffered from recurrent miscarriage and am trying acupuncture now. After my 3rd miscarriage I tried acupuncture, not knowing I was already pregnant, and that one "stuck" - I went on to have a beautiful, healthy baby boy. We're TTC again and miscarried for the 4th time just before Xmas, so I'm giving acupuncture another try. I'm also using Lisa Eaves from Heal From Within. She's lovely .... I've got my 3rd appointment with her tomorrow. So, fingers-crossed it'll help again. I don't know if it's the miracle cure, but it certainly helps. |
Oh wow, my heart goes out to you, you must be a very strong person!!! I can't imagine how hard it was/is going through so many miscarriages. |
It is almost unbearable ... but what choice do I have? I want children, so I have to just keep trying. It doesn't get any easier, sadly, especially when friends go on to have healthy pregnancies/children while I'm still battling away. Keep your fingers crossed for me! |
You are so right, have to keep in mind the final goal! Well know that you (or we) are not alone in that not everyone has an easy time.
But you sound like you have a great spirit and are really, really strong, which is awesome! |
I had to undergo IVF. First IVF cycle I did accupuncture - failed cycle. Second frozen IVF cyle, I did not do accupuncture (financial reasons) and it is a successful twin pregnancy - 35 weeks. I think sometimes it is just hit or miss. But I did find it somewhat relaxing. Best of luck to you - I know what a stress TTC can be. |
