| My daughter will be 13 as of the beginning of next summer and has expressed interest in being a camp counselor. Most I've seen have been way out in VA. Does such a thing exist in DC? Or close in MD? Paid or unpaid. |
| Most what? |
| YMCA uses CITs. You have to pay for their leadership class which is open to ages 13-15. Same with Montgomery County Rec Dept. |
| Levine Music Camp -- they take teen apprentices starting at age 12. |
|
For future reference, Casa Sheridan takes CIT's at 14 years.

| YMCAs have them. A few other camps I had checked online listed age ranges for their various camps, with travel options available for teens, as well as CIP opportunities. It appears you pay a reduced "camper" rate, and in some cases the CIT earns SSL hours, if that it something you are looking for. |
| Thank you! |

Camp Sonshine in Silver Spring is another option:

I got the impression that their apprentices are mostly or maybe all former Levine campers. |
| Did your daughter do Girl Scouts? That's also one to check. |
| Beauvoir. My 11 and 13yos (rising 6th and 8th) are there for a second week already. Plus they get paid $50/week cash. 9yo can't wait. |
| The Smithsonian Summer Camp takes kids, and can give them credits for school -- also a great resume builder. |
| Create Arts Center is Silver Spring had CITs who pay a lower rate. Many go on to be high school volunteers for summer camp. I think you can get some service hours for CITs too. |
The CITs get "paid" but the parent still pays camp tuition (around 300-400 per week, like most CIT programs I'm familiar with)
|
| Valley Mill in Maryland uses CITs as well. |
