Traveling with UPPAbaby Vista & Mesa vs. Snap N Go

Anonymous
FTM here, traveling for the first time with 10 week old baby next week. We have the UPPAbaby Vista and the Mesa car seat, which we love, but based on some older posts I read it sounds like traveling with the Vista frame is a bit of a pain. I was considering buying the traveling case for it, but it costs $130, and I am wondering if it might be better if instead of purchasing a case for the Vista i get a Snap N Go? it looks like Baby Trend claims to be compatible with most car seats... anyone use the Baby Trend Snap N Go with the UPPAbaby Mesa? or should i buy the snap N go and another infant car seat?

Are there any other lightweight/inexpensive travel systems you recommend? my DC is 10 weeks old and we will be traveling quite a bit in the next year..

TIA!

I did the baby trend universal snap and go with my mesa instead of our Cruz on a trip to florida when DD was 10 weeks. It worked out really well. Check Craigslist, we got our snap and go for $20.

Thank you- that's really helpful.

This may not be a popular view, but I wanted to travel with the "good" stroller. I hate the idea of my young baby spending so much time in the car seat-for sightseeing, etc. while traveling. Her schedule was already off and she had to nap in the stroller a lot so having a bassinet (or a seat that reclined fully later) for her to be flat and comfortable was key.

We have the uppababy travel bag and really like it. It is pricey but it's worth it to have the stroller you are used to at your destination. Also, the vista basket is huge which can be helpful in the airport. I am pretty sure uppababy will repair or replace your stroller should t suffer damage. This is a huge perk since airlines aren't always super careful with strollers. We have used our bag more than a dozen times and it still looks new.

just gate check it - won't need the case that way.

True - but if something happens to it, uppa baby won't cover it under warranty. if it is in the case, they will. we bought the case and gate checked. the stroller itself was an investment, so we protected it.

I'm the above pp. We used our ergo for most outings but I actually loved the big basket in the snap n go - practically as big as our uppababy basket. I also felt the snap n go had a really smooth push and worked better one handed than our Cruz. But we were in Florida where everything is freshly paved, unlike in NYC where we live...

Exactly. The case it worth it.

I actually way prefer to travel with my vista. You can gate check and it has a massive basket so you can put all kinds of crap in it. Traveling through the airport with a kid is annoying with all the extra crap, Vista makes it easier imo.

We've travelled with it a lot, never used a case, no extra wear and tear
