is it okay to ask another family how much they pay the same sitter?

maybe i should have asked the sitter her rate directly? not too late now that we've booked her already?
btw, i've been paying the sitter $20/hr for two kids. i hope that's inline with the market... tks! |

| That is what I pay for an experienced nanny. I think this is maybe a few dollars more an hour but it means I am at the top of the nanny's list and that premium is worth it to me. FYI-I notice that people tend to keep what they pay close to the vest because I had asked info on what to pay a weekly nanny to several neighbors and didn't get the information right away. Whatever. |

| how old is the sitter? most pay highschoolers 10/hr, college kids 15/hr and professional sitters 20/hr. |
