After about 10 years on SSRIs (zoloft, prozac, etc.) I switched on Sunday to Wellbutrin.
A little agitation Monday. Recognized side effect, unpleasant but handle-able. But starting Wednesday I've been getting really emotional over things that don't usually bother me. Setbacks at work lead to me walking around the office rehashing my latest setback with getting something approved by a federal agency (including uncharacteristic swear words), I've gotten weepy listening to NPR (hasn't happened since I was pregnant back in 2004). Any experience about when my body will adjust to the new meds and the side effects will die down? |
| Just started wellbutrin 2 weeks ago. Considering going back to Dr. because of agitation. Hang in there. Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. |
| Hang in there--it's worth it. One day things will settle down and you will be surprised at how much better you feel. I have been on several antidepressants, and they all are difficult in the beginning. |
| Ask your dr. for some anti anxiety med to help while you are easing into the Wellbutrin. |

It's a tough drug and not for everyone. For me, the agitation only increased and I had to be taken off of it. Now happily on something else.
Talk to your doctor. Good luck. |
| Can cause agitation in bipolar patients. Make sure you have an evaluation by psychiatrist. |
| Thanks to everyone. I called my doctor. |
Good luck to you. FYI, some people (myself and brother included) who can't take Wellbutrin do well on Lamictal, Effexor, and Effexor's new cousin, Pristique. |
This was me as well, although I found out I was pregnant and decided not to take anything. Been doing fine. The agitation on Wellburtrin was absolutely awful! |
