Social Skills Camps in August

Anonymous
I posted yesterday asking about NOVA - I am expanding my reach happy to drive anywhere in the DMV area - looking for 2- 3 weeks of social skills camps for a 5 year old. I have gone to the ends of the internet googling - the first few I've contacted are full and am waiting to hear back from two others.

Did you call the Auburn School? Social skills is their thing.

Yes waiting to hear back from Auburn and Newton - although I'd love to hear reviews from both. Neither of their camps is marketed as a social skills camp and we definitely need some carved out social skills time. I checked out McLean School too - but it really looked more academics focused.

The Camp Aristotle (Auburn) pages for both the Silver Spring and Fairfax campuses include descriptions of the social learning focus for each week of camp. This is Silver Spring's: https://www.theauburnschool.org/page/307. Look under the Weekly Themes heading.

Oh can to tell me why? I'm looking at all 3. Newton has zero info on their website beyond a paragraph so am waiting to hear from them. Auburn has more. Bsocial sounded impressive

Auburn doesn't teach social skills directly, but they do a great job of facilitating social interaction and handling behavioral problems. My DD made a good friend there, which is a difficult thing for her to do. Auburn has campuses in Fairfax and Silver Spring.

It doesn't have a great reputation. The camp is too short to allow relationships to develop. Search the archives for it or Susan Abrams the SLP who runs it and you will find reviews.
