Fun hotel stop on drive to Maine? Madison Beach, CT?

Anyone been to Madison Beach Hotel in CT? Or have other recommendations along the coast toward Maine? Driving to Maine for camp pickup and want to stop on the way to make a fun trip of it for 13 year old brother of the camper.
