Things to do near LAX

Anonymous
We will be in LA for 2 days in a hotel by the airport. We have a tour scheduled for our second day but we're looking for something to do the first day. We don't want to have to rent a car, so we are looking for something very close to the airport that won't be a very expensive uber ride. Any suggestions?

IN-N-OUT Burger.

Venice beach is pretty close by, and if you don't mind a decent walk from there you can walk to Santa Monica pier (and/or see the canals)

There's nothing to do around LAX.

Plan better next time.

Venice is probably the best attraction for out of towners. Check out Gjusta. Culver city isn't too far either for a different vibe. Also near LAX are lots of decent Mexican restaurants and Jamaican places (if you don't mind a down home feel).

You can score plenty of dope right there in Inglewood, not even half a mile from the airport

Manhattan Beach. Take an uber

Yes, Manhattan Beach is close and a very nice spot. Beautiful beach, can walk down the pier, and the town itself is very charming.

Another vote for Manhattan beach.

Why don't you want to rent a car? Car rentals can be pretty cheap and you'll have so many more options. Venice Beach is interesting but I'm not sure I'd want to make an entire day of it.

We have a one-day layover in LA later this year, and chose our hotel for proximity to In-n-out

Unless you want to invest a lot of money using Uber, renting a car in LA is pretty much a necessity. LA is incredibly spread out and there is pretty much nothing walkable from LAX. How much can renting a car for one day be?

What kind of a tour are you having on the second day?
