Any idea how long clearances are taking these days?

| Submitted paperwork for a Secret clearance in April. Still no word. I've heard it can take up to 6 months these days. Is that what everyone out in DCUM land has heard as well? Looking for any clues about how long it might take. Thanks! |

| OP are you just going for Secret, not TS? It could be shorter but Ymmv based on exact clearance being sought and your situation... lots of foreign travel or non citizen relatives and it could take a while. |

| I submitted for a secret clearance in sept. 2015. Still waiting. I have had TS clearances that took far shorter. I listed a Canadian-national neighbor as a foreign contact because our families are close. That triggered a full scope investigation. Investigator was profusely apologetic and said it has never before taken so long for easy cases like mine. Fortunately I don't have a great need for the clearance to do my job. |
