OMG this is appalling. Those parents need to sit the heck down.

This seems to be a trend in DC.

I know which parents you're referring to but you may need to clarify for the DCUM peanut gallery

NP, I assume she is talking about the parent named in the article and the 20 others that she says shares her views.

The stupid non DC native parents who view themselves as middle class or upper middle class when they are actually rich. The pretentious DC parents that Mayor Bowser panders to. Mainly white parents gentrifying DC. ENTITLED folks.

What do the anti-Bell parents want that they don't think they are getting? And Watkins has been poached of its best teachers for YEARS, so some people are reinventing the wheel. Sigh.

Oh my. That raised my blood pressure just to read it. It's very light on actual details, but as a Hill parent (different school) it really makes me wonder if these parents know the damage they are doing. It also confirms that my IB principal is very saavy: kiss up to white parents; ignore acheivement gap.

The Norquists. Wealthy white parents who have sought, and received a meeting with the chancellor??

Meanwhile he spends his day advocating for school vouchers and privatization schemes that would harm Watkins and every other DCPS school.

I don't get those people at all -- they make an awful lot of demands on public schools for people who think income taxes should be abolished. He also was a hard supporter of Scott Walker and his crusade against public education and municipal employees.

I will send them $100 cash (no way to be taxed if not claimed) if they keep their child in dcps past 5th grade.

I would ignore them if I was the principal, too.

the "non-DC native" argument cuts both ways here and could just as easily apply to Principal Bell, including her UMC (or "rich" if that works better for you) DC principal salary

I hope that DCPS, the mayor and the Council continue to ignore these folks.
