| Is this an early pregnancy thing? Can it cause any harm? |
| Make sure you drink plenty of fluids (try mixing sugar and salt into your water) so you don't get dehydrated. You might want to mention this to a doctor in case it's caused by a bug that can affect the baby (like listeria). |
| Omg if it's listeria I would miscarry right? How would I even know? |
|
Pregnant with #2. It sounds completely gross but my "morning sickness" in the first trimester was diarrhea.
I asked my OB about it and she said it's uncommon but not rare/concerning. |
| I knew I was pregnant with #2 because of diarrhea Aron d 4-5 wks. Happened with both pregnancies for me |
| From a week after I got the BFP through the end of my pregnancy, I would go back and forth between a few days of terrible diarrhea and a few days of awful constipation. Ain't pregnancy beautiful? |
| Op here: this is my third pregnancy. Pregnancy definitely makes me very regular I've never ever had consitpation in pregnancy but I don't recall any diarrhea. And I'm not appreciating the pp who suggested it's listeria ? |
Hi, OP. I'm one of the earlier posters that had diarrhea as a pregnancy symptom. I am also very regular, pregnant or not, and did NOT experience this symptom in my first pregnancy. I'm told symptoms can change with each pregnancy. |
Thanks. I'm actually more regular when pregnant to the best of my recollection - but def never remotely had constipation with either pregnancy I'm 5 weeks tomorrow so the idea of listeria sounds terrible |
| Sorry, listeria poster here. Didn't mean to scare you. Hopefully it's just pregnancy symptoms as PPs suggested! |
| It's incredibly unlikely to be listeria. Don't stress about it, OP, it's a very common pregnancy symptom and as another PP said, each pregnancy can be different in it's symptoms so just because you didn't have it in previous pregnancies doesn't mean it's abnormal or something bad is going on. |
| My sister had a food borne illness (likely salmonella but not sure) in her first trimester and the diherrea and vomiting were so bad she passed out and hit her head! (She was in Mexico and not near a doctor.) She was okay and my niece is now a wonderful nearly 8 year old. But it's scary! Hydration is critical!!! |
| I had diarrhea (and some rouuuuugh gas pains) on and off early on! Stay hydrated and take it easy but diarrhea alone isn't cause for concern in my mind |
| Op here: I've only had 2 diarrhea episodes. Around 1 pm and 3 pm. Nothing since 3 |
| I've had the same thing, also my third pregnancy and first time with this happening. My OB told me it was fine to take Imodium to prevent dehydration. I also have horrible morning sickness and have a hard time drinking enough water. |
