| We've had 4. Each time, we don't hear from the realtor (or her company) about attendance, comments, repeat visitors, etc until the Tuesday after the event. This seems ridiculous to me. Why don't they call us immediately afterwards, or just leave us a little note? What does your realtor do? |
| A note would be nice, but assuming these are Sunday opens, Tuesday seems reasonable. Many realtors work all weekend and take Monday off. |
| I would expect to hear from the realtor on Sunday. Have you told your realtor your expectations? |
| Ask for what you want. But really, none of the stuff you mentioned matters. You don't NEEEEEEED to get excited if someone is seeing the house a second time. It doesn't change your plans. |
No, youre right. I don't. But it just seems so odd to me that someone would sit in my house for 3 hours in an attempt to sell my house for me and not shoot me a text right afterwards saying, 'great event! 20 showed up! liked the layout and the views' talk tuesday!" or whatever. |

Realtor. I call or email sellers after the open house and then follow up with people from the open house. I report any interest back to the seller when I learn something
But as we say about agents like yours: That is our competition |
| If you've had four open houses and you're in a reasonably hot market (like anywhere in DC and close-in suburbs) then your realtor probably just wants you to drop the price and be done with this. |
FWIW it's usually not your listing agent at the open house but a more junior agent. Could be some delay from when your agent talks to the junior agent. |
|
I'm a buyer who's gone to multiple open houses and only was ever followed up by one house, fwiw.
But yeah if you've had four of them and no bites, then your price is too high. |
??? We are talking about how the listing agent responds to the seller after an open house. |
| for the commission i would have to pay a realtor from my house sale i would absolutely expect basic communication from them after a open house. # of people went through, general feedback rec'd, etc. |
|
This is why we went with a rebate agent. Our house sold itself. It was priced correctly -- which we basically set doing research on redfin and comparing comps/sales. It was in good shape. Again, us. And it sold 10K over with no contingencies. So, there wasn't any back and forth or negotiating. We had six offers after our first open, asked for the best and highest and chose. Closed in a month.
So, happy to have kept the 2 percent in commission in my own pocket. |
There shouldn't be any delay. - another realtor |
Agreed. I'm in a hot market but not DC, and four open houses is a sign that something is really wrong with the house -- price or some major flaw. |
| Four open houses??? You need to lower the price. |
