heating bottles in microwave

My baby is now 8 months and I'm almost done weaning him and slowly switching to formula. I previously heated formula bottles in the microwave with my first baby. However, it took me a lot of trial and error to figure out the microwave time. What do other people do vis a vis heating? Yes, I know the technical rule is no microwave. My understanding, though, is that that is a hard rule for breast milk but with formula the only concern is the risk of hot spots - Is that right? Or is there a concern about the break down of nutrients too? (I never once fed my baby a hot bottle and I do not understand why this small risk would outweigh the convenience of microwaving!)
I have a formula pitcher that I premix in the morning and make the bottles up for the day. Is there a better way to do this? My other thought is to buy a formula dispenser and warm up the water in the microwave and mix in the formula. Eventually, i'd like to not heat the bottles up at all and just do it room temperature. Does the formula not dissolve as well that way, though? |

Are you using plastic bottles? My concern isn't hot spot, but you should not be heating plastic in the microwave with any food or liquid in it that you are going to ingest. This is a basic rule for everyone.
I use tap water to make each bottle as needed. If I want it warm, I use slightly warm tap water. It does help the formula dissolve a bit better when warmer water is used. But please stop putting plastic bottles in the microwave. Also any plastic tupperware or kids bowls etc. |

| Hear what after in tea pot or microwave bowl. Put bottle into hot water. Swish around. Done. |

| Are you using gass hottles? You should not heat up plastic ones in the microwave. |

| I never heated a bottle. My DD was fine and I would have started heating them if she seemed upset or had digestive problems. |

| At our daycare, they keep a slow cooker full of water on low all day and use that to heat the bottles. |

Room temperature! No need to heat the bottles. The powder dissolves just fine.
Your breast milk was room temperature. Formula can be too. |

| before we got the doc browns bottle warmer we would microwave a bowl of water and then put the bottle in the bowl for several minutes to heat it up. |

Well I put our dr browns in for 30 seconds every night 
My DD is alive and well and exceeding her milestones too! |

| We also heated plastic bottles in the microwave to warm ish for the first 6 mo, about 30 seconds for 6 oz.Then I moved to room temp formula for a week or two, and then cold formula (because we use filtered water out of the fridge so it was cold). When we microwaved the formula it was to get it lukewarm, never had any issues with formula getting too hot. |

No, it isn't room temp. Beast milk would. E body temp as it comes out of the breast. |

| I microwaved water in a mug, then put the bottle in that hot water for a couple of minutes to warm up. |

| Not sure if it's too much of a hassle for you, OP. But we mix bottles right before it's time to eat. This way, there is no need to warm up anything. |
