SN Sports

What opportunities are there for SN sports for a preK child with HFA? We live in Mont Co and would like to get our child into some kind of physical activity/sports as he is overweight, and it's really hard to limit his eating. Also, swimming is out due to his intense phobia after a swim teacher dunked him without warning. He is a bit on the clumsy side, and he has lots of aversion to certain motions - swinging, rolling. It is difficult to get him to watch a teacher and copy a motion. He is not good with balls - even a game of catch is impossible, but I'm hoping a SN sports class would really be helpful. We tried MSI's soccer program for SN kids, but he did not enjoy that. Thanks for any tips/advice.

At that age, my son enjoyed tumbling and activities at My Gym. Our local one had a special needs class, but he did better attending a class with kids about 6 months younger than him. Adaptive gymnastics/tumbling or adaptive martial arts may be other options.

Sports Plus is not one on one and may be too much. There's also Special Olympics and Fun Bunch soccer. Except for Sprots Plus most of these programs are school year only. Do you qualify for PT?
