Hello,
I was wondering if any of you had/have similar experience and if you can shed some light on my case. I just turned 41. I had a PGS-ed, single, frozen blastocyst embryo transfer on May 25th. This puts me at 5 weeks of pregnancy in the event it was successful. I have not had period or any spotting or bleeding at all. Exactly two weeks after transfer I had 2 negative and 2 positive pregnancy tests. The same day I went in for my first beta. It was 68 and my progesteron was 8.3. I was told that both are low for the gestation time and to come back tomorrow (Monday) to see if they are doubling. This weekend has been tough. I tested negative both Sat and Sun on First Response and positive on Clear Blue (faint but visible line). I simply cannot understand this situation anymore and I will probably go crazy till I find out results of my next beta. What are the possibilities: 1. Could ectopic pregnancy be possible? I have not had any symptoms except on 2 weeks after transfer I had some throbbing pains on my left side but they subsided. I have't had them since. No bleeding or spotting of any kind. 2. Is miscarriage without any symptoms or bleeding possible? 3. What other possibilities are out there? Thanks so much. |
Chemical pregnancy? If the line is not getting darker, that's what I would be worried about. If so, I'm sorry b

Thanks. Chemical pregnancy is early miscarriage. I am also wondering about that. But wouldn't I have any symptoms, bleeding, or spotting? Or is miscarriage possible without bleeding? If yes, how does embryonic tissue and lining come out? |
| No, you would not necessarily be bleeding or spotting. If this is a miscarriage, you'll likely get your period soon and it will be heavy. |
| I have had 2 chemical pregnancies and, had I not had positive home tests / betas, I wouldn't have known they happened - I just got a standard (albeit on the heavy side) period. This early there's so little pregnancy-related material. If that's what's happening (and I hope it's not), you should get a period soon. But you'll know much more after tomorrow's test - good luck, I know waiting is torture |
| I'm sorry OP but the pp is right, it's a chemical. I've had 3 and they are so hard. hugs. |
| OP, one of the most helpful things my dr told me during what turned out to be an early miscarriage, is that when things seems off it's because it almost always is. This also sounds like a chemical to me. |
It is such an early miscarriage that it gets its own name because you don't have the standard "miscarriage" symptoms. For me, it was just a regular period, but it didn't start until after I stopped the progesterone supplements. Sorry, OP. |
I had a chemical pregnancy in November--so sorry, OP...it is just so cruel to see the positive tests turn negative. I tested at 5dp5dt and had plenty of "I'm pregnant again" symptoms, but my BFP vanished the next day. Surprisingly, my beta was still in the 20s when I went for my beta at 12dp5dt. (HCG takes longer to leave your blood stream than your urine.)

there will be bleeding, eventually. perhaps in a few days - it will look like a period. it's totally possible to have miscarriage and no bleeding before it. |
it will be part of your period. there is not that much tissue though, with beta so low. i had a chemical a few months ago. beta around 300, then dropped. i had no bleeding, just a heavy period that was 2 weeks late. think about this way - it's much better for this to be chemical than ectopic. if it's not going to work, chemical is the best option. |
| Yes, you can definitely have a miscarriage with no bleeding, nothing...if they don't figure it out for a little while, it's a missed miscarriage and you need meds/D&C to finish it. I'm sorry OP, I hope this isn't the case. |

If you're still on progesterone it will prevent you from bleeding regardless if it was a chemical pregnancy.
I'm really sorry and hope you get good news. |
| Hi OP, you probably already have your answer, but so you don't feel alone... I had the same questions as I am in the same boat. I had an FET on June 1 of a single PGS normal embryo and the first HCG test came back at 36. The second today came back at 30. I am not having any bleeding or spotting; the nurse said the progesterone and Estradiol will prevent that for quite a while, but that it is definitely a chemical pregnancy. I stopped meds today and will still have to go back in to keep testing HCG until it gets down to zero (like rubbing salt in the wound) before we can start a new fresh cycle (we only had one normal blast.) |
| Stop testing and wait for your doctor! |
