My marriage is in a spiral downward. We have spent so much on counselors who just want the money. They often have little or no academic background, they have bankers hours (but expect you to keep your job to make the money to pay for their care), they ramble trying to sound like Dr. Phil.
At some point I say, "WTF?" I am willing to get help, but scared that it will not work as a last ditch effort. Please help, we live in MD. |
| Dr. Drew Permut is amamzing. He's downtown, but well worth the drive. DH and I saw other marriage counselors before him and they all left DH thinking that any type of psychologist was a quack who just wanted our money. I really had to fight with him to give counseling another shot. Dr. Permut came recommended to us, and even DH liked and respected him. He's far better than anyone else I've seen (and I've been with a lot of therapists over the years). Good luck! |
| PP here, I meant to post a link to his website: http://www.drdrewpermut.com/ |
| Thanks pp, but there is no way that we could get into town. I would lose my job with that. Maybe he could recommend someone in MD, I will call. |

Is Georgetown doable for you? There is an amazing one there. Also, try checkbook (don't know the site offhand). |
