Has anyone Taken their kids to the FL keys? If so, any suggestions? We have an opportunity to go, but know nothing about it! Thx
Love it. Hit the turtle hospital and Robbie's to feed the tarpon. We have stayed at nice resorts but find the family owned places more fun for the kids. Breezy Palms is a favorite. A bit tired but great fishing off the breakwater, pool and lots of iguanas.
Thanks so much. You mean your kids liked staying in a b&b ?
Amazing place. You can visit the Everglades, beaches, see lots of wildlife at places like the theater by the sea and the turtle hospital. Great for nature loving kids.

I love the keys! I've been with kids, but I always see families with young children. There is lots to do. We usually go to Islamorada. You can go to the Theater of the Sea, Robbies to feed the Tarpons or rent a boat, tons of snorkeling trips, kayaking, bird rehabilitation, fun beach bars ie: lorelei. However, keep in mind that the keys don't have natural beaches, most of the entries are mucky. Thats never stopped us from going though, especially if we stay somewhere with a pool.
We have stayed at Cheeca Lodge and Spa multiple times, and also rented houses through VRBO |
*I HAVEN'T been with kids |
I love the Keys but it is also a little frustrating as you are surrounded by ocean/gulf but not so much beaches. Fun place but if I wanted a beach vacation-especially with kids-would not be my top choice. (adult get away v nice!!!)
Bahia Honda is a nice beach in the Keys.
We took little kids (8 mos and 2.5 yo) to Key West -- stayed at the Sheraton, which has 2-room suites available. Nice pool at the hotel, plus it's on top of Smathers Beach.
The only real beaches are Bahia Honda or Fort Zachary.
