Looking for a very inexpensive Delaware shore getaway for three nights

Anonymous
in late August. My spouse is a teacher and goes back to school a week earlier than our kids do, so I plan to take them somewhere for a few nights that last week before school starts. (There is virtually no childcare to be had that week anyway.)

We have not been to the beach this year so I was thinking that would be fun. Any suggestions? It would be nice to be within walking distance of the beach, boardwalk and other stuff in Rehobeth, Bethany or Ocean City.

Thanks in advance.

I think very inexpensive is very difficult in the summer. I might look for condo rentals by owner and see if anyone would do 3 nights. They might if it's relatively last minute and not booked.

There's a camp ground at Cape Henlopen State Park, north of Rehobeth. It's only about 1/2 walk/drive to the beach. The camp ground is all sand. It costs about $30 to pitch a tent overnight. The bathhouse has showers and toilets. Each lot has picnic table and spigot for fresh water. Also, there's a fishing pier near by.

agree, camping would be the inexpensive way. otherwise i might just check hotwire or other online sites for hotels but it seems like they are mostly booked up, especially near the boardwalks.
