She wants north of DC, under 10k, compact easily walkable campus and town. She is currently finishing sophomore year with a 3.7 UW GPA, doing the full IB diploma, and had a 1280 on the PSAT (so not sure what that will translate to on the SAT). She is interested in biology, neuroscience, biochem, etc.
She keeps falling in love with little liberal arts colleges that are hard to get into like Hamilton and Colgate, but she's a typical girl from the suburbs with no hooks. Are there any similar but more likely schools that I should have her look into? |

Juniata College |
| Look into colleges that change lives |
Not the OP, but can you explain why you suggested this school? |
| under 10k? I think only state schools are that cheap (well, even those are not that cheap). |
| Miami University in Ohio |
I think the op was talking about population. |
OP said she wants north of D.C. |
Gettysburg. Villanova (a bit bigger, but still a cute campus). |
| Skidmore. Muhlenberg. Bryn Mawr. |
| Since there is a good chance of a 1280 PSAT turning into a 1380-1400 SAT, the schools that she has identified might be possible. |
Hooks aren't just inherited. She has time to do interesting things and contribute to society, but she'd better get moving. |
| Wells? Union? Both have interesting histories. |
|
Second Skidmore & Lafayette. Trinity (CT) might be another possibility.
Depending on her grades junior year (& first semester senior year) & how much her scores go up when she takes the SATs, Colgate & Hamilton might not be entirely out of th e question. If she really loved those schools, it might be worth it to have her take an SAT prep class to increase her chances of scoring high enough on the SATs to make them more targets than reaches. |
