Kingsmill or Nemacolin?? HELP!!

Anonymous
Trying to take a last minute trip with hubby and 2 kids (4 and 2). Any recent experiences with either of these would be welcomed. Nemacolin has a 3 night deal for $1769 with a $900 resort credit but the Trip Advisor reviews are all over the place. TIA!

I haven't been there in about three years, but I really like Nemacolin. I'm a spa person, and it is very nature-oriented. I prefer it to, say, the Homestead or the Greenbrier, which I view as more fussy. They have activities DH and I both like. I hope we return some day.

One thing would be to figure out what they can offer for your kids. Most places do not have kids camps for kids under 3. I don't know how they compare with Kingsmill on that front.

I've never heard of Nemacolin but we went to Kingsmill two years ago and thought it truly sucked. The food was awful at the resort and nearby.

I've been to both. The food is pretty bad at both and the quality of the rooms is roughly comparable, with Nemacolin being more "eclectic." Some people find it tacky, others like it -- depends on your taste. Kingsmill is the easier drive and right next to Bush Gardens, so good for the kids if you want to do that. It also has nice pools--we went in fall so only used the indoor ones, but they were nice. If the trip is more about mom and dad, Nemacolin has a great spa (in my opinion its best feature) and had a nice kids camp program/babysitting that we used. It is a longer drive but I think it offers more amenities. I found Nemacolin a bit much but overall think it was more fun and would go there unless you want to take the kids to BG.

Both have flaws but you should have a nice time at either as long as you manage your expectations and don't expect perfection. Have fun!

NEMALCOLIN definitely!!! We have gone twice with our son. We got babysitters both times so we could enjoy nice dinner out- they have great pool, petting zoo, train rides, rock climing walls tons to do- cant reccomend enough!

Been to Nemacolin two times in the last 4 years for work functions. I loved it. The spa is AMAZING and worth every penny. Be sure to bring a swimsuit b.c it has a nice pool. I vote Nemacolin but I've never been to the other place.

OP here--thanks for the input. Just booked Nemacolin. It looks like a better balance of adult and kid fun. 8)
