I believe that type of spam is a failed attempt to post encoded javascript. I haven't been able to reverse engineer it, but I think that part of what they attempt to post gets filtered out. Never click on any links that manage to get posted in such spam messages.

Those can't hurt your computer as long as you don't click on any links they may contain. The "will this work" posts are most likely test messages that are posted in order to record the steps required to post. Once they walk through the steps, they program the spambots. It's a bit of an arms race. They record the steps to post, I record them recording the steps. They program their spambots, I put in blocks on their spambots. Rinse and repeat.
