Our DS was all set to start at Tiny Tots at the end of the month but I just got a call from Madison Day in Del Ray that they have a spot for him (We are still on the waitlist at St Anthonys). Madison is newer and has a lot more policies, but it is $300 more a month and does not provide diapers or food. Any thoughts on whether we should stick with Tiny Tots or take the spot at Madison?
Some initial thoughts -- some caretakers at TT have been there 7 to 15 years while Madison is brand new. However, the facilities at Madison look great and I love how organized they seem. |
My son went to Tiny Tots from 5 months until he aged out at 3. It wasn't the fanciest daycare, but he was very happy and well-cared for. I would recommend it to friends. |
We're in the infant room at Madison in del ray and very happy there. |
OP (and others) - don't want to derail the thread but I was wondering if anyone can provide some insight on how long the wait list is for TT? We're thinking about switching there when second baby comes along. |
Madison Day School is in north Old Town on Henry Street, not in Del Ray. Are you talking about the same place? |
Madison Day School opened a second location in Del Ray last year, so I assume that's what OP and PP are talking about. |
They only have a 19 kids right now and can fit 24 or so. |
Yep. They opened a second location at Curtis Avenue. |
Oooh, thank you for explaining! |
It's Custis. East Custis. |
I'm somewhat late to this thread, but in case anyone else has questions about MDS I thought I would answer. My son started in the infant room at Madison on Custis and he absolutely loved it as did we. He has since transitioned to the Toddler room and still runs in the door to the teachers. The teachers are so caring and make you feel like your child is the most important child in the world. There are a lot of babies in the room but they take great care of them and are very attentive to their needs. The teachers are great and really take time to discuss your child's needs to help them progress, etc. The Director of the Custis location is awesome as well. Also, their playground is fantastic! |
From someone who worked with Tiny Tots and Blue Bird of Alexandria...stay away. They're ALWAYS over ratio and they do not care! If a teacher expresses their concern they are frowned upon and looked down as we can't control the kids. Horrible place and management. |
Agreed!!! Stay away , management only thinks about themselves and money. Director very professional and well spoken always tells you what you like to hear, however the way management runs the place and treats teachers is awful!! I’m a big believer happy teachers happy children, unfortunately not in this day care. |
My kids went to BB from 8 months until they went to kindergarten; my nephew currently goes to BB II. It's lovely and I had a great experience as is my sister. My kids (now 10) still ask about their teachers from BB on occasion. |
I toured BB II and that place was an absolute zoo. They keep the infants in bouncers/seats for huge chunks of the day. There must be 50ish kids, if bit more in ine huge room. Stay away. |
