A true original that defined my college years and still easily holds up to this day. He created a genere of rock and roll.
This one hurts. |
This is very sad. Had he been ill? |
Yes to all of the above. I have very fond memories of Allman Bros outdoor summer concerts in the 90s, hearing all those great songs from the 70s. |
| Wow. I hadn't heard. What a legend. |
Quite. Hepatitis, liver transplant and cancer, heart issues. Honestly I'm surprised he made it as long as did, but holy shit, what a musician. |

I've been sad about this too. I heard that his cancer returned 5 years ago, and he chose to keep it private. Ultimately, he died from complications of liver cancer, but he had a liver transplant in 2010 and has had Hep C for a long time.
I have lots of great memories attached to lots of his songs. That man understood the blues! |
| Whipping Post is one of the best songs ever written. Amazing. |
+1 RIP |
| I'm from Macon, where Allman Brothers are still legendary. Everyone goes to H&H and passes the spots where Duane and Berry died and visits their graves at Rose Hill. So Gregg's death is hitting pretty hard. |
