GOP Corruption at Every Level

“The House formally reprimands a congressman for breaking campaign finance laws.
The House on Friday took the rare step of reprimanding one of its own members for ethics violations, voting unanimously to fine Representative David Schweikert, Republican of Arizona, $50,000 for breaking campaign finance laws.

The vote came after the House Ethics Committee found that Mr. Schweikert violated 11 House ethics rules. It marked the first time since 2012 that the House has reprimanded one of its members for an ethics violation.
“There is no joy in reprimanding one of our colleagues,” said Representative Dean Phillips, Democrat of Minnesota, who helped lead the investigation into Mr. Schweikert’s actions.

The committee said a two-year investigation had found “substantial reason to believe” that Mr. Schweikert had violated House rules, the Code of Ethics for Government Service, federal laws and other standards.

It cited Mr. Schweikert for campaign finance violations and errors in reporting by his campaign committees; the misuse of his congressional allowance; pressuring official staff members to perform campaign work; and his “lack of candor and due diligence” during the investigation.

House investigators found that Mr. Schweikert’s campaign had accepted more than $270,000 from his then-chief of staff, in violation of campaign finance laws. The former chief of staff also testified that he was pressured to raise money for the congressman’s campaign, a committee report said.

Mr. Schweikert had agreed to a $50,000 fine as part of an agreement to end the investigation.”

“In January 2019, the Navy found itself in a tough spot.

Former Navy SEAL and Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens wanted to be reinstated to military service. He hadn’t applied yet, but the Navy had received word the request was coming.

The problem was neither the SEALs nor the Navy wanted him back, documents newly obtained by The Star show.

Greitens had been charged with a felony in 2018 connected to allegations of violent sexual misconduct. Though the charge was ultimately dropped, the Navy wasn’t ready to welcome the former governor back at a time when the military was facing intense criticism over its response to sexual assault in its ranks.

It was after the intervention of Vice President Mike Pence’s office that Greitens was allowed to return as a reservist, the documents show.

The experience forced a wider look within the Navy at how it handles misconduct - and in Greitens’ case, could have resulted in the former governor facing charges for rape or sexual assault under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.”

This guy just won the Republican primary for Governor of Washington and will run against Jay Inslee in November:

Republic Police Chief, gubernatorial candidate Loren Culp accused of mishandling child sex-abuse investigation

“...The victim was later brought to the police department where Venturo and Culp conducted a taped forensic interview of her. The lawsuit claims that during the interview, Culp and Venturo asked the victim disturbing questions about her personal life, sex life and home life and asked her to give detailed descriptions of the sexual acts she engaged in with Moore, as well as a description of Moore's genitalia.

At the end of the interview, the lawsuit claims Venturo and Culp confronted the victim and said they didn't believe her and that she may face prosecution for making a false report.”

The chief adviser to the Trump administration’s vaccine program said that scrutiny of his stock ownership may delay a vaccine or make its discovery less likely because it is distracting him from his work.

“He is working as a contractor voluntarily, drawing payment of only $1. As news reports have outlined, this exempts him from ethics rules that would apply to federal employees.

Slaoui worked for 30 years in senior roles at pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline. He still holds significant stock in the company. The HHS inspector general ruled that he can continue to own stock in the pharmaceutical industry and is exempt from disclosure rules that would apply if he joined the government.”

I hope Biden wins, and I hope he has a bulldog of a VP and AG and Senate Majority Leader and that they go after every single stinking Republican who spent the last few years violating every law and guideline. I hope they get sued to pay back all they stole, and I hope some of them face some serious prison time.

A Republican candidate for Congress in Connecticut dropped out of the race Tuesday as voters were going to the polls in his primary election following his arrest in an assault case.

Thomas Gilmer, the party-endorsed candidate, was arrested Monday night on charges of first-degree unlawful restraint and second-degree strangulation. He posted a $5,000 bond. The charges stem from a May 2017 attack on a former girlfriend and a July 22 interview with the victim, according to Wethersfield police.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, police have a video of the incident that was provided by Gilmer’s Republican opponent, Justin Anderson. It shows Gilmer “punch the victim in the face and jump on top of her as she falls to the ground. Gilmer then attempts to choke the victim followed by multiple closed fist punches to the victim’s face,” according to the report.

He then places her in a chokehold and she appears to be “struggling for her life,” according to the affidavit.”

Gilmer, a Liberty University graduate working in private equity and construction, only lost to his GOP opponent, a lieutenant colonel in the Connecticut National Guard, by a half a dozen votes. His favorite books are the Bible and “The Heart and the Fist” by Eric Greitens, the Republican Governor of Missouri who resigned in disgrace after a woman he had an affair with accused him of unwanted kissing and sexual touching, violently slapping and spanking her, coercing her into performing oral sex on him, and threatening to blackmail her.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Republican Party.
