sorry I cannot find this on MCPS website, is there a formula or a chart?
for example if quarter grades are B, B, C, A what is the final grade? (just an example I was hoping there was a chart to check all possibilities) |
| The grades are by semester. So, in your given scenario, B and B= B for 1st semester. C and A=B for 2nd semester. |
| Thanks, some of the classes seem to be by semester (showed final grades after second semester) but others are not, on the last report card they just showed grades so far for 3 quarters. Has anyone seen an explanation on an MCPS website. |

I actually did see these links (I googled this already) but they refer to high school courses. In high school courses all grades are semesterized and a final grade is received every semester.
But on my child's 6th grade middle school report card, he has some grades that are final after 2nd quarter (quarter 1 and 2 were averaged) and others where quarter grades for 1, 2 and 3 appear but no semester final grade (I'm presuming they would average all 4 quarter grades which is why I was looking for a chart to average all 4 quarter grades). |
Those are probably one semester courses. Some electives are one semester courses. I also believe that DD got a final grade for French 1a after two marking periods, and will get a final grade for French 1b after the second semester, even though it is a year long 1a/1b class. |
This is exactly what I told my kid So far he has not disappointed, but math is always just on the cusp.
