Leaving for Bethany tomorrow - how long did your recent Saturday drive to beach from DC take?

I haven't made this trip but I live in Annapolis and traffic going across the bridge has been backed up terribly from about 11 till at least 4. So I'd suggest leaving early esp. since this is suppose to be a nice weekend.

They recommend hitting the bridge before 7am on Saturday mornings, but I've been OK if I can hit it by 10am. 9am is better. There's a bit of a wait, but generally not crazy. Having an EZ pass and keeping left helps too.

We left Silver Spring last Saturday, August 1st ~12:00 and arrived at our condo in Ocean City at 6:40. We made one bathroom break (kids needed to stretch) for ~10 minutes. We left OC yesterday ~2:00 and arrived home ~5:15...not bad. Around 4:30, there was quite a big backup of traffic waiting to cross the eastbound span of the bridge. My advice would be to leave crazy early

We always go on Friday and get a hotel for a night before we check in to our condo on Saturady for the week. This way we beat the traffic and also get in a full day on the beach.
