I’m an IVF patient. Your comment was rudely worded, but people are worked up because she hired a surrogate to get the preferred gender she wanted as soon as she found out her existing pregnancy would result in a male baby.

People don’t freak out if, like the situation you reference above, you hire a surrogate then conceive spontaneously- especially if you’re unable to conceive or carry pregnancies yourself. People freak out when you go out of your way to hire a surrogate when you’re already pregnant, because you’re not happy with the result of your naturally conceived child.

And who said she had one remaining embryo? She could have 12. I have 11. She presumably did this to have a girl, not because of religious beliefs. Alec stated in a con an interview in October that Hilaria had done ivf for a girl (which sadly results in two miscarriages) before she got pregnant with her now five month old son.

What she did here was unethical and sad for the baby boy- and the ones who came before him who she wished were a girl.

Imo it was likely an adoption in order to try and fix her public image, not a surrogate situation.

This baby was quite obviously in the works well before she was outed for pretending to be Spanish. Are you ladies suggesting she should have demanded her surrogate have a late term abortion in order that she focus on appropriately addressing her eccentricities?

And the judging over her large family? None of you would likely even exist except for the practice of having multiple children families that was very common through human history until quite recently. I certainly understand why many of you don’t want to cramp your style with more than a couple of kids, but this family is net worth 50 million+ with no shortage of helping hands - just like the many of you who use nannies it’s a huge focus of this board. So long as Alec has a good financial planner managing his fortune, why shouldn’t he have as many kids as he likes?

I’m not sure about the others, but I am judging her for having four boys to get a girl, then selfishly hiring a surrogate to achieve said girl while her last boy was in utero. How do you justify that to the baby, edu, when he’s older? The Spanish heritage thing was bizarre, and also selfish.I don’t care if she has eight children: I judge that she seems to disregard the boys for only wanting a girl. I have no problem with gender selection for family balancing, but I do have a problem with the psychological damage it will inflict upon her sons, particularly the youngest one, when he’s old enough to understand that his mom was trying to have a girl and so she hired a surrogate to have one when she found out she was expecting another boy.

Welcome Newbie, the waters may be rough but we will make you laugh!

FTR, I am part of the swamp (only those living outside the DMV call it that) and have 5 kids in 6 years. All planned so I am not judging her on that number of kids. Just the fake heritage, fake accent, photoshopped photos, fake dedication to health and wellness which is really and eating disorder, faking wanting kids when all she wants is girls, fake names for her kids....the list could do on. But NOT for her having a nanny or 5. That is a blessing to those children.
