Is Aidan more authentic? It looks like they are both popular as a boy's name.

Aidan is the original spelling from the Gaelic. As much as I like originals and all that, I probably like Aiden a bit better. Both are nice, though.

Very popular names right now. I would not chose either as you're son is likely to not be the only Aidan/Aiden in their classroom. But I actively eliminated names that were rising in popularity, so my preference coming through.

Definitely Aidan. My co-worker was just saying how there are kids in her DD's class whose parents clearly didn't know how to spell the name they gave their kid, b/c the name is spelled phonetically. I'm not sure that's actually the case, but I have wondered about that before.

And I just think Aidan looks better.

Aidan is more authentic. Aiden is more popular, currently at #16, followed by Aidan (#59), Ayden (#91), Aden (#254), Adan (#299), Aaden (#343), Aydan (#567), and Aedan (#821).

Of course, there's also Jayden (#21) , Brayden (#51), Hayden (#76), Jaden (#88), Caden (#95), Kaden (#99), Kayden (#152), Braden (#156), Jaiden (#168), Cayden (#173), Kaiden (#190), Caiden (#250), etc., etc.
