Flying to Hawaii with 18 m.o.--crazy? brave? stupid?

Anonymous
My husband really wants to go to Hawaii on vacation. Flights with our 18 m.o. have been challenging but manageable but we have NEVER attempted a flight longer than 4 hours. Anyone else travelled Hawaii distance with their toddler? How was it?

We did it with a child the same age in November. My husband was sent for work so we didn't think too hard about it before going. She didn't even have her own seat purchased for her, but we had one on 3 out of the 4 flights. She was more difficult on a flight to Paris that was much shorter several months later. Whatever it is though....Hawaii is AMAZING with a toddler so it's worth it!

We flew to Hawaii when our DD was exactly 18 months old...and it was fine. Seriously - not bad at all. The biggest pain in the neck was dealing with installing the huge Marathon in the plan on each and every leg of the journey, but DD was really very well behaved. We did all the usual tricks - brought new toys, went for walks up and down the aisle, carried snacks and stickers and drinks, etc... and I can honestly say we had a BLAST in Hawaii with her.

Also, look at it this way - even if the flight sucks - at the end of that day, it's just ONE bad day out of your whole vcacation. You're still in Hawaii with your family!! Go and have fun!!
