Need inspiration for weekend plans

Anonymous
Hi all--my boyfriend and I have a completely free weekend for the first time in a long time and are figuring out what we should do! We'd like to do a little more than the usual going out to brunch, dinner, movies, etc.

If you were a 20/30-something couple with no kids and an entire weekend free, what would you do? (Day trip or overnight ideas welcome.) I need some inspiration...

Weather is going to suck. Cold and rainy Friday, Saturday, little sun Sunday, more rain Sunday afternoon.

NYC bus trip?

My parents live in NYC so we go all the time. Thanks though!

Northern VA--visit a winery, Luray Caverns, Monticello

Philadelphia--Museum of Art, enjoy Italian food

I really find historic house tours interesting. They're usually not particularly kid friendly. There are lots in the DMV:

This looks to be a lot of fun.

If your folks live in NYC, I'm guessing you've hit a lot of areas up and down 95 between here and there> (At least, that's the case in my house.)

If you haven't, check out some of the cities to the south. Both Charlottesville and Richmond were very cool. (But a caveat - I have no idea about college graduation/release timing.)
