gift ideas for cousins visiting this summer

Anonymous
My nephew (5) and niece (3) are coming to visit this summer from Sweden. Would like to give each of them some small gifts when they come. Needs to be inexpensive as I'm on a budget (under $25 for each kid or under $50 total) and small enough that they can take it back with them without too much trouble. I was trying to think of something they might have trouble finding in Sweden or that is a lot more expensive there than here but also I have no clue what is a good gift for 5 year old boy and 3 year old girl as I just have a baby and haven't been around older kids much.

Thanks for any ideas!

Ask the parents as it varies so much at that age.

i would do some kind of arts and craft-y things...beads for jewelry making, maybe, or ABC stamps, or one of those decorate a wooden car/wooden doll kits.

A small box with their own Scotch tape, and post-it notes, and fun crayons, a scissors with funny edges that cut cool shapes, and stencils, and some envelopes. Also print paper that says their name on a half-sheet, and a cool eraser. They can use it all up and play mail. Also stickers and a glue stick and index cards. Colored paper. They can play store and make their own price tags.

Pillow pet or some other fun pillow

Their toys are better than ours and this is a generalization, but they tend not to stuff their shelves - I'd second the person who suggested this and go for something like novel art supplies (crayola does great metallic and glitter markers, for example). You can put together a really fun mix in Target or even look for some fun extras like kawaii character papers (Hello Kitty, Rilkkuma, My Melody, Totoro, etc.) and stickers on ebay. And fun washi tape! That stuff is harder to come by there than it is here.

It depends on the child. At 5 mine would not like a comic book, legos or superhero.

Wow! Selecting a gift for kids are the most interesting thing in this word, it can be difficult as well. I remembered last year I visited my friend in Miami she gifted my daughter (5 year) sunglasses small heart shaped and I remember how much she was in love with them, she wore it throughout the day out or at home always on her head. She loved them, I asked my friend where she got them? She told me about the wholesale sunglasses distributor who'd do have a wide range of sunglasses for all. I have checked the website for wholesale sunglasses distributor they do have many different sunglasses type and in budget. Kids love gifts no matter if its a small chocolate or soft toy, they just love the gift. Hope this will help you take your decision with the gift.
