I'd say this negates Zippergate. |

This was great news! So glad to hear this.
Maybe Kim Jong Il has a man crush on Bill? |
While it is great they are freed...it is always a bad idea to negotiate with terrorists. We gave Kim Jong Il exactly what he wanted in this situation. |
This statement, "it's always a bad idea to negotiate with terrorists" is something that politicians say to please their domestic audience. But nobody actually does this. Just google Bush 2006 and North Korea, and I'm sure you will see how we sent negotiators to North Korea. Or how he negotiated a new relationship with Libya (remember when we wanted to bomb them off the planet?) Then look back at how the Reagan administration met with Iran pre-election to negotiate the release of the hostages. This is not a liberal weakness. The fact is, any country that can exert substantial influence over an entire region of the world is going to get an audience, and diplomacy requires negotiation whether we like it or not. |
Did anybody watch the Daily Show with Jon Stewart yesterday? He showed John Bolton saying we should not negotiate with the terrorists. Jon Stewart went over the "negotiating with terrorists" spiel during the Reagan years: Iran Contra, release of the hostages, supplying arms to Sandinistas, Oliver North and now he gets his own f*g show on Fox News down the street. Now, do you think John Bolton or any other politician would say the same crap if it was their own daughter, wife, or family member taken hostage? |
Big difference. Lisa Ling choose to ignore the law of North Korea and she got arrested--I am happy she is back but hope this doesn't open the door for more journalists to do what they want for a story and then expect the USA to bail them out. |
Laura (Lisa's her sister). ![]() |
And don't forget...these ladies worked for Al Gore and Lisa Ling (the sister) has worked for Oprah...so I am sure that connections worked here.
And I am sorry...but I don't take John Stewart as one of my credible news sources...he is an entertainment figure. |
who can - b/c of his position (and undeniable quick wit) - make some very UN-PC comments, cut through the crap, and be brutally honest about touchy situations. So don't underestimate his "power" over the people. |
Ha! She still can't get creds. |
