Recommendations for St. Maarten?

We're going on a long weekend getaway to St. Maarten for our anniversay - no kids!

Staying at the Westin. Any ideas on what to do, where to eat, what not to miss on the Island?

We just got back from a few days at the Westin. You'll definitely want a car - it's far from many things, and the car will enable you to zip around the island and visit all the beaches/shopping/casinos.

Lots of good restaurants in Grand Case, which is about 1/2 hour or so from the Westin. Shopping is primarily in Philipsburg and Marigot - mostly jewelry, perfume, and designer label clothing.

The dutch side has many casinos, but they are not anywhere near the size of Vegas casinos, and don't have as much gaming or entertainment variety.

Lots of beach bars and grills to while away the day and night.

Enjoy - the Westin is a beautiful property (albeit a bit windy!).
