I have a bit of a dilemma. I currently work a job that i am not really into and is not extremely stable. I recently was offered a job with more pay, but is less interesting than my previous one, and i will also need to drive for 35 to 45 mins each day (could be worse depending on traffic)
My current job is based on a contract with an another company, and if they pull the plug, i'm out on my ass. But i have great work life balance, but am making about 14K less than the offer. I also currently have 25 vacay days. I just don't want to pass up the opportunity, then get laid off and regret it. But also don't want to start all over at new place in a job that i really am not excited about. This is a semi-rant, semi asking for advice. If my current job was more stable, I wouldn't leave. I know that for sure. |
| If you think you still have some time at the current time, why not keep looking? The new doesn't sound worth it. Sounds like you'll send in gas the raise you're getting - plus you might be spending more on babysitters if you get home later, etc. |
+1. I would wait for a better offer. You don't need to grab the first fish that bites. Leave for a more exciting position and more money if you still have a little more time left. |
| Gives us a bit more info. Seems like a bad decision to jump especially if your job will be around. |
I get it. You have an offer to a less-than-ideal job offer and your current place might be ending soon/no severance since it's a contract. What about taking new job, doing the minimum and continuing your job search. Just say it's not a good fit if asked why still looking. Happens all the time. Companies hide important details all the time from job candidates. |
| Screw the commute. Stick to DC. If you're that sought after, wait and see what will happen. |
