Everyone has heard about public school residency fraud -- kids enrolled in DCPS and charters who really live outside of the District. Now it turns out that some local office holders feel free to ignore residency requirements, too. "Ward 9" keeps rolling along....

| There was a Ward 3 ANC a couple of years ago who was accused of not living in the district he represented. He resigned rather than disclose his actual address. |

What's the point in cheating to be an ANC rep? They aren't paid and have no budgetary authority, IIRC.
What a weird situation. They just want the prominence? |
I think they're eligible for special parking decals. No doubt that makes the "Ward 9" ANC reps feel very important. |
ANCs do have a bit of power regarding liquor licenses for restaurants and bars. Probably not so much an issue for Ward 8, but certainly a "friendly" voice for the restaurant industry would be useful in one of those positions, perhaps even appropriately compensated. Not that I am accusing anyone of anything. |
Big difference between not living in your ANC single member district and not even living in the District. Ward 9, indeed. |
